Dr. Paul Dumol's talk "Philippines: A Nation in Progress" aims to answer this question by tracing the etymology of the word bayan - the rough Filipino translation for "nation." At the same time, the talk looks back on key events in our History as it brings to light possible reasons for some of the problems the Philippines is presently encountering - roadbumps on the journey to nationhood.

The free admission talk is sponsored by the Ortigas Foundation Library as part of its advocacy in promoting the study of Philippine History, Culture and Arts.
