Last May 27, twelve OCLP Volunteers trooped to Maybunga Elementary School to participate in Brigada Eskwela 2006.
Brigada Eskwela is a yearly program of the Department of Education that aims to make schools ready for the school year. Part of the Schools First Initiative, Brigada Eskwela happens during the National School Maintenance Week. Activities usually range from cleaning the classrooms to doing minor repairs in school ceilings, comfort rooms, laboratories, etc. With Brigada Eskwela, the usual practice of having students clean the rooms during their first day of school is averted and learning starts right away.

Joining OCLP Volunteers were about 50 students, teachers and parents from Maybunga Elementary School. Together, they cleaned the comfort rooms and repainted all three six-level staircases at the Eusebio Building. About 300 man hours were contributed all in all. P34,716.50 worth of supplies were also donated. This include costs for three water closets OCLP donated to replace some of the non-functioning toilets in the school.
